If I walked for more than 15 minutes, I had to have a nap to get through the rest of the day. I saw every doctor under the sun: my family practitioner, neurologists, gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, pulmonologists, psychologists, gynecologists, and dietitians.
I spent a decade with seemingly unrelated symptoms that were, at times, debilitating. I was always tired. I was tired went I went to bed and tired when I woke up. It was such a deep exhaustion that I couldn’t put into words. I had brain fog that made it difficult to read anything longer than a paragraph. I couldn’t recall what I had read and couldn’t focus on anything. Exercise was impossible. If I walked for more than 15 minutes, I had to have a nap to get through the rest of the day. I wanted to feel like a human again. I hadn’t felt like one in so long that I could barely remember what it felt like to feel normal. I saw every doctor under the sun: my family practitioner, neurologists, gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, pulmonologists, psychologists, gynecologists, and dietitians. Every one told me I was simply tired because I was overweight and didn’t exercise enough. I felt hopeless…unable to keep up with my three kids, much less prepare meals and take care of the house.
