I was quite ill when I finally found Dr. Neville. It wasn’t the first time I’d been so sick, but it was the first time I didn’t get better after a year of trying. In fact, it had been two years that I hadn’t been able to go back to work. The physical pain, mental anguish, brain fog, and exhaustion ruled my life by then.
I’d been to various specialists; I did tons of research; tried medicines, hormones, supplements and counseling. I was almost ready to accept that I would never have my life back. I knew over years of ‘crashing’ and trying to figure out what had happened that my adrenals were involved. But doctors in the U.S. don’t seem to recognize Adrenal Dysfunction as a ‘thing.’ As long as the adrenals still work, your symptoms are treated as hormone deficiencies and mental health deficiencies; and all the various subsequent symptoms (digestive issues, migraines, candida, infections, anxiety, etc.) are treated in isolation.
Over time, the immune system weakens, and the variety and intensity of symptoms increase. The sheer level of exhaustion becomes intolerable.
Dr. Neville has incredible experience and wisdom dealing with patients who have adrenal exhaustion! He ran some tests, listened to my challenges and history, and got me on the road to recovery right away. He quickly got to the bottom of what was going on with me and what to do about it.
For the first time in 50 years, I found someone who ‘got’ me, who understood my challenges and how the pieces fit together. He treated me with respect, dignity, and empathy. He gave me an effective individualized treatment plan. He stayed with me every step of the way. I know he does this for every one of his clients, because part of this program includes conference calls. These group calls that Dr. Neville leads help educate us and give each of us needed advice. I found out I wasn’t alone, and that there was hope.
Over time, even the people who had it the hardest got significantly better. That built my trust in Dr. Neville and his protocol and helped me stick to the treatment plan. Finally, I found a doctor I could believe in. Some people respond to treatment quickly. Some people take longer. I didn’t find help until I was functioning at a fairly low level, was hypersensitive, and unable to eat much. And I felt pretty depressed by then.
Dr. Neville was always kind and patient. At first, he worked to find some baby steps that I could take. He supported me through all the struggles and frustrations, ups and downs, and he never gave up on me. I’m not totally healed yet – I can do a lot sometimes and other times I have to rest a lot. But always there is progress overall. And I have learned SO much about how to make better life choices. I recognize the signs when I’m back-sliding… better yet, I know what to do to get myself back on my feet.
It is a crime that treatment for adrenal patients is not mainstream in our society. I wish I’d found Dr. Neville 30 years ago. I’m grateful I found Dr. Neville before this disease ultimately consumed my life. I honestly believe Dr. Neville can help anyone whose core issue is adrenal dysfunction.
